Massage is based on the fact that soft tissue, for example; muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia responds to touch (since pain usually originates in the myofascia, or soft tissues). Trigger points (sensitive points in the muscles, which radiate or refer pain to various parts of the body) can also mimic many conditions. Using skilled manipulation and a wide variety of techniques, along with the therapist having an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, massage can bring aid in pain relief by correcting and normalizing the body’s muscles and soft tissues.

 


Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the gentle manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, to stimulate circulation and relieve muscle spasm. Swedish massage consists of various movements which form the basis for all massage work. It can be used superficially to produce an all over relaxing effect or it can be used to affect the deeper tissues. It is a very effective form of massage, and can help with:

  • Reduce pain and swelling
  • Reduce muscle spasm
  • Aid in relaxation and help to reduce anxiety
  • Improves sleep and can even help with those that suffer Insomnia

 

Remedial & Sports Massage

Remedial and sports massage involves deep tissue work using a wide range of techniques, in order to reduce muscle tension and pain or spasm, and by athletes looking to enhance their performance and improve recovery.  You DO NOT however, need to be an amateur, professional or even recreational sports person or athlete to benefit from this type of treatment.

The treatment involves the use of advanced diagnostic techniques and advanced muscle testing to aid in treating the problem area. For example, using (PNF) or even spinal vertebrae re-alignment.
